It's time to come clean. I decided a few months ago that I was immune to the powers of Starbuck's. No, not to their hypnotic commercialism or their overpriced drinks (both very powerful), but to the actual "flavor" of their coffee. Maybe it was the barista who made my drink that day, maybe all the planets were in alignment; I can't be certain of the outside forces, but I can be certain of this: my coffee was weak. Nothing is worse than a weak cup of coffee.

I mentioned it to a few friends that I was finding the power going out of my Starbuck's drink. They suggested I try a "misto". I had never heard of that. It's half drip coffee, half steamed milk instead of mostly steamed milk and a shot or two of espresso. I understood why they said this might solve my problems, but alas, it did not. "COFFEE WATER!!!" I screamed. "Swill!!" What was wrong with me? As you may recall, my very first blog was "I heart Starbucks".

It had to be more than just adding more coffee to my cup. Then it hit me. "The bean!!" Of course, that's it!! The bean is the answer. It's all in the roast. Who roasts their beans to make the flavor of the coffee stronger? No, not that!! My mind whirled as I thought of the very last place on earth I would go for a cup of coffee. NOT.............Poop's!!!!!!!! Well, not really "Poop's", but that's what I use to call it when I was tracking with Starbuck's. It all came down to Peet's.

I mocked friends for drinking this sludge. I contorted my face in disgust at the thought of their coffee. It was just too crazy strong for me.......before. Now that Starbuck's was too weak, what was I to do? I had to try. Man, oh man, I'm glad I did!! Ahhhhhhh, my old friend coffee is back and stronger than ever. Yummmmmmm. Thank's Peet's. Sorry I mocked you for so long.

I still think the merchandise at Starbuck's is MUCH cuter than Peet's:

See what I mean? But, coffee is a little more important than buying a mug, so I will press on and hunt for a Peet's wherever I go. They're kinda hard to find.
