SJSC

Last night I nervously went to a place I've never gone with people I don't know to take a step that was a little scary. I went to audition for the San Jose Symphonic Choir. A while back I had mentioned that I was wanting to find an outlet for singing. I searched for some groups online and found this choir. They had open auditions so I gathered up my confidence and practiced my best French song by Faure and headed over there after my last lesson.

As I walked around the church (where the rehearsals are held) I was amazed at how many people were pouring in. I walked inside and then noticed how many "older" people were in there. I thought that maybe this was more like a "community choir". I was greeted SOOOO warmly. Everyone seemed delighted to meet me and were over the moon when I said I could sing tenor.

I had to wait to do the audition, but all the people who came to audition were asked to stay and sit through the rehearsal. Three hours later I realized this was NOT a community choir, but an amazingly talented choir with insanely difficult music. I went up to talk with the director about my audition. The section leader of the tenors came with me. He said to the director, "Just say yes. I'm giving my recommendation." The director said that I was in, but he'd still like to hear my voice for solo purpose. I was a little disappointed but I suppose they figured if the music didn't scare me away and the section leader recommended me then I was good to go.

So, I'm in!!!! My concert schedule will be posted later. :)
