The Elderly

So......the elderly. First let me start by saying that I LOVE the elderly! I do, however, think there needs to be an age limit on their driver's license. This is not mean, it is TRUTH. I am petrified when I see certain people behind the wheel, straining to keep their eyes open as they swerve dangerously around the road. Frightening!!!

Also, the other night I went in a carpool with some older friends to our choir rehearsal. I was terrified on more than one occasion with the driving skills. The conversation, on the other hand, was both Hi-larious as well as intriguing. We started off with all types of ailments from balance and canes to eyesight and various forms of cancer (not funny). Then, while we were lost and driving erratically around different streets a comment was made about something and the driver said, "We don't do religion or politics in the car."

What do you think we started talking about, but religion and politics!!! These elders began talking about an assortment of things to which I was rather surprised at how liberal their views were and how conservative mine were. I don't always hold fast to narrow-minded people who follow the view of another person because "they say so". I like to research (God's Word, mostly) and come up with my own thoughts and beliefs about things. I suppose many would think that was narrow-minded as well. Eh!!! At any rate, I guess I was just surprised that a youngster (their words, not mine) like me would be more conservative in her views.

I think it was interesting because of the elderly that I've been around in my life are much more conservative than these friends are. It's definitely fun getting to know different people at various stages of life.

First of all, I sometimes feel like I am falling asleep at the wheel, but as I tell Joe a lot lately, I am much to young to feel this old. Secondly, I am finding that I too am more conservative than the elder people I know...
