The Flea

Wow! I think I spent yesterday recovering from the Flea Market adventure on Sunday. When I got home from the Flea I was more exhausted than I've been in a very long time. I think it was the combination of walking, the heat and getting up at 4:50 am.

At any rate, I found some juicy treasures again! I really thought it would be a bust because I was already in isle D or E and NOTHING had jumped out at me. In fact, I was convinced I was at the Twilight Zone Flea Market because every time I would ask how much something was the response back was always well over a hundred or more dollars! This is the Flea Market not Paris or Milan!! Come on, people!!!

One of my treasures was a book of songs entitled, "Songs For Every Purpose And Occasion." They weren't kidding! They have everything in there from hymns to Christmas to patriotic to love songs to cowboy songs to sailors at sea song, etc. Some of my favorites are "Old Dan Tucker" (one of my favorite songs), "Dundee" (they knew about the office before it aired!), and "Jacob, Drink!" Here are the lyrics to "Jacob, Drink!":
Jacob, drink! Your glass now clink, with John and Joe so hearty.
Here's to thee, and one for me--and health to all the party.

He who will not marry me is no friend for you or me.
Lupu tsupu, tsupu lupu. Thus we live in Poland.

Sounds like they've been drinking quite a bit looking at the last line of the song. :)

Another treasure was a very cute necklace. The necklace has a tiger fast asleep in it's cage with a sign above the cage that reads, "Danger." This is a new vendor who has some really cute vintage jewelry. As soon as their website gets up and running I'll check it out for y'all. It's called Crown Baby.

I searched high and low for a great "prize" for b-friend. I took a few of his favorite things and it morphed into a 1979 Incredible Hulk trick-or-treat candy bucket.

My last and most Hi-Larious treasure was this little book I found entitled, "O Ye Jigs & Juleps! A humorous slice of Americana by a turn-of-the-century pixie, aged ten." This book was apparently essays written by a 10 year old (Virginia Cary Hudson) back in 1904 and they are super funny. I wish I could write every word of this book down because it is so funny, but I just got convicted about copywrite laws. Boo! :( I suppose y'all will have to come over for a personal reading at my house.

Great treasures at the Flea, but the Flea kicked my butt this time!!!
